The course is an introductory one on digital communications, with two main subject areas: digital modulations (ASK, PSK, QAM, FSK, MSK, OFDM) and channel coding (linear segmentation codes). For each of the topics it deals with, a concise theory is presented as well as elaborated simulation examples on the MATLAB platform, which form the basis of the students' laboratory practice. The subject matter of the course can be seen in the following list of units: 1. Τelecommunication signals, Digital filters 2. Optimal detection, Matched filters 3. Spectrum of digital waveforms, Nyquist signaling 4. Digital modulations ASK, QAM, PSK, FSK, MSK 5. Channel performance 6. Wideband transmission - OFDM 7. Channel Coding, Finite Fields in Coding 8. Linear Block Codes, Cyclic Codes 9. BCH and Reed-Solomon Codes
